Safar ki Dua in Urdu

You already have seen the prayer in Arabic. But if you are from Pakistan and can not read the Arabic language, let’s see the transliteration in Urdu:

ترجمہ:  پاک ہے وہ ذات جس نے ہمیں یہ (سواری) مسخر کی، اور ہم اسے مسخر کرنے کے قابل نہ تھے، اور ہم اپنے رب کی طرف لوٹنے والے ہیں۔

Safar ki Dua in English

Translation: Glory be to the One who has made this subservient to us, while we were not capable of doing it ourselves. And indeed, to our Lord, we will return

Explanation

This prayer is available in the Quran, Surah Zukhruf, verse 13.  It is a prayer of praise and gratitude to Allah for His many blessings, including the ability to ride animals and ships. The prayer also acknowledges that we are ultimately responsible to Allah and will return to Him one day.

Narrated by Ali ibn Rabi’a (RA). He said, “Once I appeared before Ali (RA). Then a beast was brought to him to mount. When he stepped on the foot of the animal and said, “Bismillah”. Then when he sat upright on the animal’s back he said, “Alhamdu lilla-ha” (All praise be to Allah) then said:

The Prophet Muhammad Used to Recite Another Supplication—

Transliteration: Allahumma inna nas-aluka fi safarina haza-l-birra wat-taqwa, wa minal-‘amali ma tardho. Allahumma hawwin ‘alaina safarana haza, watwi ‘anna bu’dahu, Allahumma antas-sohibu fis-safar wal-khalifatu fil-ahli. Allahumma inni a-‘uzu bika min wa’atha-is-safar, wa kabbati-manzar, wa su-i-lmunqalabi fil-mal wal-ahli

Translation: O Allah, we ask You in our travel for righteousness, taqwa, and good deeds that You are pleased with. O Allah make our travel an ease, and shorten the distance for us. O Allah, You are our Companion in travel and the guardian of our family (in our absence).
